Makeda Richardson is a Black and Native American two-spirited woman of the Haliwa-Saponi indigenous people of the Northeast Piedmont region of the State of North Carolina. She is FIRST a mother, partner, grandmother, daughter, sister, auntie, and fur mommy.

Makeda holds a B.S. in Communications from Old Dominion University, a M.B.A. from the University of Maryland, and an Executive Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Georgetown University. Her professional journey also includes 15 years of experience partnering with for- and non-profit organizations, and U.S. colleges and universities to assess current workplace challenges and build their capacity for long-term inclusion, equity, and diversity.

Makeda enjoys vacations to the beach, amusement parks, dancing, and spontaneous outings with her daughters, partner, and friends. She values family, freedom, loyalty, courage, and connection.
